           You are Welcome Here!
We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, gay, or filthy rich.  We would love to see you if you are 6th generation Canadian, or arrived in Canada this morning, or this is the only home your Ancestors have ever known.  We extend a special welcome to those who are new-borns, poor as dirt, skinny as a rail, don’t know about this God thing, or just plain can't sing. You're welcome here if you're "just browsing," just woke up, or just got out of jail. We don't care what denomination you are, or you haven’t seen a church since little Carrie’s Baptism.  We don’t care if you’re more Lutheran than Luther, or more Catholic than the Pope, or haven't been in church since Bobby's Confirmation.
We extend a special welcome to those who are over 40 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast.  We welcome Hockey moms, starving artists, Rodeo dads, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, junk-food eaters, and people who stay up too late at night.  If you're having problems, or you're down in the dumps, or you don't like "organized religion", we get that.  If you blew all your offering money at the casino, you're welcome here.
We offer a special welcome to those who could lose a few pounds, think the earth is flat, work too hard, can't spell, or came because grandma's in town and wanted to go to church.  We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, are three-times divorced, had religion shoved down your throat as a kid, or pulled off the highway for directions and wound up here by mistake. We welcome tourists, seekers, doubters, bleeding hearts ... and you!  Welcome Home!

Welcome to Oak Lake and
Griswold United Church

Welcome to our web presence!  We hope you find the information found here useful.  I am confident that there will never be quite all the information one may want, so please feel free to ask us any questions about our faith community, either here in Oak Lake and Griswold, Manitoba, or of the larger United Church of Canada.

We are an open, welcoming, and accepting congregation.  Everyone is welcome in God's house, and you will be loved for who you are!

If you are already a part of another Christian denomination or another faith tradition, then we in our church wish you God's blessings in the faith of your choice. If you do not belong to another faith community, or just have questions about ours, then we invite you to visit our churches or give our office a call.  You are welcome to be a part of all that we do.

Our Mission

The purpose of our congregations of adults and children is to worship God; to provide opportunities for spiritual growth; to teach the Christian Faith;
to support each other, former members, and adherents; to serve others locally, regionally, and globally; and to be a welcoming presence to anyone who might like to join us.

About Us

Jesus welcomed everyone and invited everyone, whether they were poor, rich, or just getting by; ill or healthy; self-made or educated; popular or a loner; secure or full of doubts.  All are invited!  There are 2 United Churches in our Pastoral Charge ...
Oak Lake United Church and Griswold United Church ...
Both of these churches have been faith communities for over 100 years!
